Chip's running career:

I have been running for about 30 years now. During that time I have completed 25 half marathons, 10 being the News and Sentinel Half Marathon before taking the race director position. My half marathon PR is 1:19. During my career I have also completed 67 full marathons in 38 states.

Chip's motivation:

Ultimately I run to stay healthy, but also so that I can eat whatever I want. Running allows me to maintain a healthy lifestyle while not having to miss out on the good stuff.

Advice from Chip:

My advice to first time racers would be to always be prepared. Be in good enough shape to be able to finish. You don't have to be the most fit person to compete in one of these races, you just have to give yourself the ability to do it by training for it properly. If you don't put in the training you will not get the outcome you are looking for.
