PARKERSBURG - Streets will be closed in and around Parkersburg on race day for the 2018 Parkersburg News and Sentinel Half-Marathon and the Parkersburg Homecoming Festival Parade.
All streets will be open by around 2 p.m., said Sgt. Greg Collins with the Parkersburg Police Department.
Among the traffic and parking changes:
The metered parking on Second and Juliana street will be closed beginning at noon Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday of homecoming weekend.
Parking under the Juliana Street Bridge will also be closed beginning at noon Friday until 9 p.m. Sunday.
At 5 a.m. Saturday, all traffic on Market Street south of Seventh Street will be closed.
At 5:30 a.m. Saturday, the U.S. 50 Eastbound Juliana Street exit will be blocked off with barricades to prevent traffic from entering downtown and will remain closed until around 10 a.m. Saturday.
On Saturday, a car show will be held on Market Street, from Ninth to Third streets. Cross streets on Market Street in this area will remain open with the exception of Sixth Street. Motorists are asked to avoid this area if possible from 4-10:30 p.m. Saturday.
Point Park will be open to watch the fireworks. The Ohio and Little Kanawha rivers will not be restricted to boat traffic during the fireworks. The following intersections will be effected by the Half Marathon and the parade. The race route will be closed beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
