The 2009 Parkersburg News and Sentinel Races are at record pace for the number of race entrants registering for both the Half Marathon and Two Mile races. At this time there are about 1,250 people pre-registered to participate in all of the races combined. The Half Marathon is showing an increase of about 25 participants from this time last year. There were about 790 pre-registered at this time in 2008. We are almost 100 participants ahead of this time in 2007, as well. For the 2009 Half, there are already 815 competitors pre-registered as of August 11th. We also expect to add around 25-30 Elite Runners to this list.
The 2009 Two Mile registration has shot up dramatically this month and has reached 400 registrants thus far. In comparison to the 2007 and 2008 Races, there were 313 and 330 participants pre-registered, respectively.
