Race Update

July 23, 2019 - Lauren Leaman
As summer quickly winds down, we have been working hard to get the little pieces of the race together. Here's an update on the things happening behind the scenes.

If you haven't heard by now, there will be a personal record bell at the finish line this year. Racers who beat their own personal best time can head to the cool zone to ring the bell and get your picture taken with your time. There will also be a limited supply of t-shirts for those personal record holders.

The Half Marathon and Two-Mile race shirts have been chosen. The colors have been picked out and the design's are complete. Now we wait until packet pick up to reveal them.

Pasta dinner and pizza lunch tickets have been printed and are ready to go. We all know that's the best part of the weekend. Friday night, Aug. 16, 5-9 p.m., live music has been booked to play near the finish line.

Trophies, plaques and medals have been ordered and are on the way. Don't forget to stick around after the races for the awards ceremonies to get yours!

The date for race bag stuffing and finish line painting have been set and our volunteers are eagerly waiting to get started. This year we have about 1,100 volunteers ready to help make the racing weekend perfect.

For those of you who live on the race course, be on the look out for the road closing flyer. We have started going door to door to notify everyone in the race path about the times of which your road will be closed so you can be prepared.

Up next, getting water stop supplies ready, kids race shirt, and registering more racers. As we are only three weeks away, be sure to get your registration form in soon.

Also, don't forget about our “Why I Run” display of News and Sentinel racers like you. I have received many great stories and I want to share more. Send your story to me at
